Next-Gen Cold Chains: India’s Blueprint for Speed, Integrity, and Sustainability

Cold Chain Unbroken | September 2025

As we progress into an era defined by rapid economic growth, technological disruption, and sustainability imperatives, India’s cold chain sector is emerging as a frontline enabler of food security, public health, and global competitiveness. The conference “Cold Chain Unbroken 2025” is a collective effort to explore innovative pathways within India’s temperature-controlled logistics ecosystem, with a sharp focus on integrity, speed, and sustainability for stakeholders across pharmaceuticals, perishables, and high-value exports.

The year 2025 marked a turning point for cold chain logistics in India, characterised by notable advancements in air cargo infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and digital visibility platforms. These developments were supported by policy enablers such as the PMKSY, Krishi Udaan 2.0, and the India Cooling Action Plan, alongside strong private sector participation. As these reforms mature, we see 2025 as a defining year for building resilient, technology-driven, and climate-conscious cold chains that can serve both domestic and global markets.

At ASCELA, we believe that transforming India’s cold chain requires foresight, innovation, and collaboration. Through this platform, our goal is to provide clarity in a complex ecosystem—connecting policy vision with operational challenges and sustainability imperatives so that the cold chain becomes a true competitive advantage for India.

This Insight Paper aims to explore strategic thinking and action. Through collaborative effort by Cold Chain Unbroken and ASCELA, we are working towards identifying opportunities for industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators who aspire to shape the future of India’s cold chain logistics and infrastructure in 2025 and beyond.

ASCELA is incorporated in India, Singapore, South Africa, and UAE as independent entities.
